Amy has been involved in education for more than 30 years. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, her first teaching experience was at the University of Chicago Circle Campus where she worked for the University ESL program. Soon after this, Amy began combining her teaching with translation and interpretation at the Chicago Appellate Court System until 1990 when Amy’s love for travel and the Mediterranean lifestyle brought her to Barcelona. Her first teaching experience in Barcelona was at the North American Institute where she worked for a brief period until she was hired as a full-time English teacher at Esade Escuela de Idiomes. At Esade Escuela de Idiomes, Amy worked not only as a teacher but also as a teacher trainer and translator. Amy’s love for teaching lead her to pursue a PhD at the Universitat Ramon Llull in Psychology of Personality. She finished her studies in 2007 and was then hired as Lecturer in Leadership at the Esade Business school. Here she worked on the International MBA Program as well as delivered and designed courses for the Executive Education Department. While working for the Esade Business School, Amy discovered that she had a passion for Executive Coaching. Because of this, in 2007, Amy completed a one-year Executive Coaching Program with the renowned Leadership author and professor, Richard Boyatzsis. Upon completion of this program, Amy became qualified as an Executive Coach and began combining her Leadership lecturing with Executive coaching until 2014 when she decided to leave Esade in order to go it on her own as a freelance Language Teacher/Coach, Leadership Trainer, and Executive Coach.
Amy spends her free time reading, cooking, playing the piano, gardening, and travelling with her husband and two children. She is fully integrated into the Catalan way of living and after more than 30 years in Barcelona, she has definitely decided to stay!
