NELC’s Director of E-learning & Language Coach
Eileen grew up in Scotland and studied Business Administration at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. After doing a diploma in Management Development, followed by a year working on that course, she moved to London. There she co-ordinated courses, conferences and publications in North London University, City University and in a non-profit Management Development association. After doing the TEFL certificate, Eileen taught in Tarragona and San Sebastian, before coming to Barcelona. Despite various escape plans, Eileen is still here many years later, having taught in ESADE Executive Language Centre for 14 years, before becoming one of the founders of NELC. Eileen would say that she is always studying and learning and taking on new challenges. She did the Delta (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) more than 15 years ago, has led several workshops and seminars, has co-ordinated undergraduate programmes in ESADE, and has recently started learning about using technology effectively in teaching.
She has been a Cambridge Speaking examiner for about 20 years and a Team Leader for around 7 years. She is also a certified TOEFL Tutor. Her free time activities include meeting friends and finding nice places to go in and around Barcelona, as well as visiting Scotland whenever time allows.
