Suzanne was born in San José (California) but grew up in the states of New Mexico and Colorado. She has been teaching English for more than 20 years. She started teaching as a volunteer in Colorado, USA at the All Saints School in 1999 with immigrants from Mexico and Central America. She came to Spain in 2000 to do a Master’s in Spanish- English translation and the CELTA English teaching certification course.

After living in Madrid and Seville where she taught at various companies and some classes at the Instituto de Empresa, she moved to Barcelona in 2004. She worked at The North American Institute for 14 years part time and also taught Business English classes in banks and multinationals. She began working at the International University of Catalunya in 2011 where she has been teaching English for Specific Purposes for Business English, Business Communication Skills, English for Lawyers, Audiovisual Communication and occasionally teaches Spanish for foreigners. She has participated in translations of secondary school textbooks into English from Catalan and helped create an official B1/B2 exam.  She coordinates several subjects at the university and has written material for Business English and Legal English. Suzanne also sometimes does translation of scientific articles for publication.

In her free time she enjoys Barcelona’s vast cultural offering and especially enjoys classical music as she studied piano in her childhood, her teens and as a young adult.  She has volunteered at the Lliga per a la Protecció de Plantes i Animals de Barcelona, an animal shelter for abandoned cats and dogs for 14 years. She enjoys anything related to music, animals, reading and a nice evening with friends with delicious food and nice wine.
