Ruth was born in London but grew up in the North West of England near Manchester and has family all over the UK (and the world!).
Having studied languages at university (French and German), wanting to travel and realising that she enjoyed working with people, English language teaching seemed the obvious career choice. Ruth has been working as an English teacher for over 20 years now and as a teacher trainer since 2013.
Over the last 17 years she has specialised in teaching business English to professionals in and around Barcelona and is particularly interested in pronunciation.
She is motivated by a passion for languages and a belief in the importance of life-long learning and puts this into practice herself (MA in Linguistics, TESOL Diploma, professional development courses). She is currently brushing up her German and taking some first tentative steps with Mandarin.
When she’s not teaching or learning languages, you can find her strutting her stuff with the tap dance community of Barcelona, walking in the hills around the Maresme, where she now lives, or sampling the gastronomic delights of local bars and restaurants.
