Nelson PringleNelson moved to Barcelona in 1989 and quickly fell in love with this dynamic, ancient city which was reinventing itself to prepare for the 1992 Olympics. Although Nelson is American, he came to Barcelona via Manchester, England where he had finished his degree in Rhetoric. Largely unheard of outside of the States, Rhetoric is essentially the study of language and communication. In Barcelona Nelson quickly realized that he loved helping people learn English while he tried to learn Spanish and Catalan (not simultaneously!). He worked at the North-American Institute for about 11 years, teaching children’s classes, adults of all levels, company classes (including a short stint at Operación Triunfo) and test preparation courses for T.O.E.F.L. and Michigan. In 2006 he accepted a job as the manager of an agency specializing in in-company courses. Running the office for eight years gave him valuable experience in forming and leading a team as well as working with his clients to help them achieve their objectives. While working as a manager, Nelson continued teaching part-time and returned to teaching full-time in 2014. Apart from face-to-face teaching, Nelson has extensive experience at the UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) as an online instructor and has written materials for one of their online courses.
